IMPACT & ADVOCACY

  • The Brenthurst Foundation is a Johannesburg-based think-tank which examines ways to drive Africa’s sustainable growth. Founded in 2004, the Foundation is at the frontier of new ideas and innovative actions for strengthening Africa’s economic performance.

  • Oppenheimer Generations Research and Conservation (OGRC) catalyses targeted research and harnesses dialogue between research and practice to create impact in African landscapes. Our work supports human wellbeing, protects important landscapes and develops better human-nature relationships for the benefit of the African continent.

  • The OMT was founded in 1958 by Harry Oppenheimer. It has a long tradition of investing in education, public interest activities and other philanthropic causes. The Oppenheimer family donated an additional sum of R1bn to the OMT in 2012, underlining the family’s commitment to making a positive difference to South African society.

  • The SA Future Trust is a champion for small business. In March 2020, the trust was established with a R1 billion donation from Oppenheimer Generations Foundation to support small businesses through the Covid-19 crisis. Today, we continue to focus on accelerating growth and job creation in the small, medium and micro-enterprise (SMME) sector. We believe in the power of the spirit of South African entrepreneurs and their ability to make a difference in South Africa.

  • The Brenthurst Library is regarded by historians as one of the most important repositories of Africana in Southern Africa and one of the largest and most important in private hands.
